Vintage Thingies Thursday hosted by Colorado Lady is here again, check it out & join the fun!
I took a few pics of some vintage costume jewellery to show you this week. I have more, but that can wait for another day. Most of the earrings were given to me by my friend about 15 years ago, they belonged to her G'ma.
I love them but they are all clip-ons & boy do they hurt my ears so I seldom wear them.
The first two pairs are very pretty pale turquoise blue, one crystals the other pearls. The flash has sort of washed out the color - I need to figure out how to photograph shiny things!
Should I try to get them changed over for pierced ears so I can use them? Is that even economically possible? I have tried putting little rubber pads on them but it doesn't help & after a very short time my ears are throbbing.
How on earth did anyone ever wear them?
This next pair are gorgeous, but clips again!
These three are all quite dressy, the two larger pair from friend's Gma, the dangly rhinestones I bought at a church rummage sale in the late 50's & they were old then! I have worn them a lot, though not for years, they used to be my favorite earrings for formal occasions.
These are pins with pearls, again I think from my friend's G'ma. The one on the left has a place to hang it on a ribbon or chain

I like to wear all of these treasures & do so from time to time, guess I am just an old fashioned girl!

WOW what gorgeous jewellery..i couldn't bear to wear clip-ons, ouch!
Those are gorgeous Ros! I have some of my Mother's and you're right, ouch!
I remember how it hurt when I tried on clip and screw earrings. I wonder how they ever became popular.
I agree - clip ons are so painful. having your ears pierced hurts too, but only for awhile.
These are all so pretty. We are glad that you kept them and get to treasure them!!
OH, these are so pretty. I love vintage earrings. Have a great VTT and a wonderful weekend.
I especially like the diamond earrings and the pearl pins.
Hi Roslyn, we are blessed to have each other. Our Dad always made sure that we knew from early on how lucky we were to have a Sister! Thank you for your lovely visit!

I just love the vintage earrings. I have several pair from my G'ma and I also wonder how the heck they ever wore them. They seem so heavy and uncomfortable. I wonder if you can have them switched into pierced...I would be interested in finding out. Thanks for sharing you VTT today it was lovely.
I love this kind of old earrings, sometimes I use them to make charms on charm bracelets if there is only one or I don't feel too badly about repurposing them. These are too pretty as a set to break up though!
Hi Ros,
This is Evys' Daughter Karyn, We have been trying to send her e-mail address to the e-mail on your blog, but it keeps coming back undelivered. Could you e-mail me at rosebrook_karyn@netzero.com, or see if you can guess her e-mail.
it is her second blog @ gmail.com
Don't you just love a good riddle?
Oh...those are all so very pretty and sparkly! I have a few pieces of my grandmother's and I just cannot do the clip-on either. Gosh, they were so heavy and squeezed my earmeat :)
I'm just not willing to pay that big of a price for beauty. Much the same as I will not wear heels unless absolutely necessary.
Beautiful jewelry! I love the clip-on earrings...I have a pair from my Mom that I showed on VTT, you're totally right-impossible to wear!
Love the pins-much easier to wear too!
As a young girl, I remember playing with my grandmother's jewelery and many of her pieces resemble what you have shown in your message today. I can remember she had a pair of earrings that I was especially fond of. They had a ball of rhinestones dangling from a silver chain and they attached to the ear lobe by a screw. I loved wearing those. Thank you for the memory.
