Day Two, Playing With Jacks

It begins!
Students hard at work-or not! Perhaps they were socializing or eating, there was plenty of that!
A few of the many "Jacks" blocks in progress and some of the many ways they can be set.
I like this chevron design.
This is Angela's in modern fabrics.
 A blue and yellow version.
Beginning of a Barn Raising setting I think, it is Andrea's.
This one too appeals to me.
Hmmmm, not sure how this will turn out yet.
 Nice!
 Totally scrappy.
And here is my sewing area but my blocks are half hidden.
Tada!
Angela made a Valentine Mug Rug for Bonnie…...
and I had made two selvedge potholders from some of the "Jacks" fabrics. That brilliant smile of Bonnie's never ends and if you are not a passionate fan you will be once you take one of her classes. She is most giving of her time and talents and entirely lovable!
We made a stop at the SAS store, Bonnie had never seen one before and was rather amazed when she walked in, she said that it was a very dangerous place-to our pocket books yes!
Even I could not resist a small purchase here, the only fabric I purchased this week. I think my weariness is showing!
On the advice of Maria, one of our fellow students from Tucson, we ended up here for dinner, good food  [the rest of the group enjoyed melt in the mouth Prime Rib] then back to the hotel for an early night! Tomorrow it's "My Blue Heaven".

Quilting Celtic Solstice

Originally I planned to quilt this with the same panto that Bonnie used, Celtic Swirlz.
However after quilting two swirls I decided that I did not like how it was sewing out so I frogged that and went freehand………….
quilting swirls all over the body of the quilt ………….
traditional straight-line quilting in the piano key border, with "C"'s in the sashing and a larger swirly design in the triangular border.
The swirly design shows better on the backing which is pieced with left-over strips from the border.
I will try to get a better pic of the entire backing tomorrow but for tonight I am too tired! I stayed up late to finish it, because I want to take it to Tucson to show Bonnie on Wednesday! It won't be bound but neither is one of the other Bonnie Mysteries that I am taking for show and tell!

Snowed In!

So much for leaving Colorado today, I woke about 5am. to find more snow accumulation and it hasn't stopped yet! DH went out and ploughed early on, and we have been told that the main roads are treacherous- as the temperatures are in the teens discretion being the better part of valor we have delayed our departure yet another day. Assuming that the storm peters out today and the roads are ploughed we will make our slow way out of the mountains tomorrow morning.
Piling up again since DH shoveled yesterday.
Obviously no eating out on the deck or grilling either today!
Button is in her favorite spot, wedged down behind the cushions on the loveseat.

DH took her out for a run in the snow, but I noticed they weren't gone long!
Having already packed up all my sewing I am at a loss for occupation today, audiobooks and the computer are what I have, oh and there is my sock knitting perhaps it's a good time to tackle that since it's too cold and snowy to be doing anything outdoors.
