Spring Quilt Retreat

San Juan Quilter's Guild held their Spring Retreat this weekend. We took over a conference room at the Hampton Inn and about twenty of us stayed there, well appointed immaculate rooms, and very cooperative, friendly staff.

Quite a few other members chose to be day campers, going to their own homes each night.

Below are some pics of some of the busy bee quilters and their projects.

The theme was "Mardi Gras" and some wore fancy hats like Pat here showing a pic. of one of the Works In Progress [commonly referred to by the acronym WIP!]

Then there is Roena, who for many years has been the recipient of exotic lingerie at each retreat. She will come in one morning to begin sewing and find something like this draped over her machine.

Notice the $1 tucked into the flower, the jewel trim and the note that said "For a good time call Ro, 555.5555"! [Very cheeky!]

This time the embellishment was appropriately Mardi Gras oriented!

Then there's Christie with her very Mardi Gras-like gorgeous quilt, the "Christmas Pickle".

It was a bit of a challenge and received other names from it's maker during it's construction!

This pic shows the colors better but doesn't show Christie's sweet face! The quilt literally glows as if it has a light behind it.

The velcro tab inside the top of the bag keeps the cups separate and upright, and the inside is made from actual coffee bags, very clever!

These three now go onto my personal stack of tops awaiting my attention at the longarm!

I think that was a very productive quilt camp, don't you?

Oh, and it's been snowing again the past two days!
